Welcome back to the 80's!!!!

You might remember dancing in the clubs to dance floor hits like Rejekto!, Umsturz Jetzt!, or Confusion in the late 80's. Independent labels like Techno Drome International, ZYX Records or Zoth Ommog, New Zone, Music Research GmbH (founded by Talla 2XLC) were all the rage. Slick, techno driven synthpop, infused with EBM and industrial, pretty much described most of the big club records coming out of the German scene. It should come as no surprise that one of the pioneers of this new dark techno sound called The Frankfurt Sound would soon become one of the most legendary producers in electronic history Talla 2XLC.

However, Talla 2XLC is only half of the story. RaHen (Ralf Henrich), is also one of the leading composers and producers of the Frankfurt Sound. He was instrumental in producing projects like Moskwa TV, MCL,Bionic Force,The S:Sense, Axodry,Whispering Colours, Two of China, Project One, Robotiko Rejekto, etc..

Bands like Aircrash Bureau, Armageddon Dildos, Leaetherstrip, Blind Vision, X-Marks The Pedwalk, Noise Control, Umo Detic and many more, had their debut albums produced by him. Robotiko Rejekto were Ralf Henrich, Andreas Tomalla & Kurt Ader.

Andreas Tomalla (Talla 2XLC) left the group after the Confusion single and RaHen and Kurt Ader (Ramona) would continue on. After a slew of successful singles, they released their full length debut The Cyper Space in 1990. They continued to release several more singles until 1992 when they disappeared into the stratosphere. In 2011, Germany's premier electronic label Infacted Recordings released Umsturz Jetzt! which was part of their retro series Your Alltime Classixx Collection. It included remixes of their three biggest hits, Rejekto!, Umsturz Jetzt!, and Confusion. This would serve as a sort of a pre-release to the bands “comeback” in 2012. In July of 2012, they released their first single in nearly twenty years called Crying. Soon after, they released their second full length CD Corporate Power. This would be the second full length album that they would ever release in their whole twenty five year history.

Who is Robotiko Rejekto now? RaHen (Ralf Henrich) has pretty much turned his baby into a solo project. He has added sweet femme vocals by Ava Nima. If I was to describe the sound of Robotiko Rejekto now, I'd have to say they sound more like Axodry than Robotiko Rejekto. Unlike Robotiko Rejekto, and their hard driving electro techno and gruff robotic vocals and samples, the new Robotiko Rejekto has a smoother, cleaner, more commercial and polished synthpop sound. However, fans of their late 80's and 90's sound will not be disappointed, though as I mentioned earlier, they are less harsh and more commercialized this time around. This incredible album takes some of the best elements of synthpop and mixes it with a dark electro/ EBM sensibility. Strong catchy melodies, big beats, dark, ominous atmospheres, intense lyrics, gruff, often robotic vocals that bounce back and forth between RaHen's great trademark wave voice. Strong elements of house and trance are also quite prevalent throughout.  Though most of the album is turbo charged dance tracks, there are still a few ambient and etherial tracks, just to give your feet a break and to create a perfect balance.Whether you are a fan of dark electro, EBM or synthpop there is something here for everyone.

Robotiko Rejekto has brought back true music to the EBM industry. You won't find a lot of noise and vocals that are so badly distorted that you can't understand anything that they are saying. RaHen has successfully brought back the old skool 80's/90's electro techno, industrial sound, but along with it, real songs, catchy melodies and vocals you can understand and enjoy. I hope that Robotiko Rejekto starts a trend and we start to see and hear more real songs and melodies again.

Several 80's EBM artists with the Frankfurt Sound are making a comeback like Brigade Werther, Vomito Negro,Aircrash Bureau,.just to name a few. From start to finish, Corporate Power is an energized breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale music scene. RaHen once again proves that he is still an electronic force to be reckoned with.

Welcome back Robotiko Rejekto we've missed you!  There are several tracks which are sure to be dance club favorites, so set your phasers to DANCE!
