The songs here incorporate electric instruments, violin, viola, loops and percussion and are haunted by flourishes of ghostly banjo and resonant finger-style guitar. And with intimations of the blues, folk music, and old-time country weaving seamlessly into passages reminiscent of post-punk, neofolk, or even doom, Lux Interna seem to articulate a hazy vision of some long-lost American spirit - a spirit that appears here in a dark form, no doubt, but which may just hint at the promise of light, hidden within its deep shades of night.”

It should be said clearly: there is light in the body, there is blood in the sun is an album of delicate beauty. At first listen its soft hues and chords might seem a little too bland, but the deep devotion that is hidden in the music of Lux Interna only shows up after some time. This album is like an enchanting smoke that circles up into the air, to reach our nostrils only after some time and then leave us completely smitten by their exquisite fragrance.

At times, Lux Interna sounds similar to Jess and the Ancient Ones or Sabbath Assembly. At other times, the references to Leonard Cohen are very strong.

On “Threefold”, the smoky voice of Nick Cave lingers around the corner, while “Seed” gives us the essential feeling of roadtripping Americana. “Black Bird” features beautifully floating female vocals, whereas “Spiritloom” reminds me of “The Ar” by Tiamat on the Wildhoney album.

The beautiful, delicate artwork of there is light in the body, there is blood in the sun deserves a special mention as well.
