Artist: Across Tundras/ Lark's Tongue
Album: Split LP
Label: Cavity Records
Genre: Rock
Psychedelic rock bands Across Tundras and Lark's Tongue have released a split LP together, providing each two tracks for this issue.
The music of these bands is not your average 60s psychedelic rock, but borders cosmic blues, terrestrial drone, panoramic country crush and rural heaviness – as Cavity Records beautifully describes it.
Across Tundras and Lark's Tongue borrow from the classic rock bands, but they bring their music with a modern, almost grungy, cool. There's a particular type of warmth in their music as well, as if they could put their instruments aside at any given time and go grab a beer with the listeners.
The first two tracks of this LP are by Across Tundras: “Low Haunts” and “Crux To Bear”, in which the influence of stoner rock and drone metal is clear from the deep and sluggish basslines as well as the vocals, that have a nineties-grunge-twist to them.
The final two tracks are by Lark's Tongue: “Follow your Night” and “Aluminum”, lighter, more inspired by progressive rock , but with a gloomy atmosphere over it. “Aluminum” is a delicate track that reminds me of Aoria with an oriental twist.
If you like discovering new rock bands that invoke summer festivals and spaced-out post-party afternoons, then check out the split LP by Across Tundras/Lark's Tongue.
