Artist: Uberbyte CD Title: EXS Label: Crunch Pod Homepage: www.uberbyte.net Genre: EBM, Industrial Reviewer: Robert Eaton Date: 12 14-10 The UK’s Uberbyte manages to write a pretty serious industrial album, without taking itself too seriously. The album has some great moments, many of which are firmly tongue-in-cheek. Mixing electro, noise and industrial, ESX is truly a surprising album. The album features 10 tracks, and also features remixes by Noisuf-X, XP8 and C/A/T. The offerings on ESX are pretty diverse. The album opens with the title track, which is essentially a danceable noise track. “BreakYou” is an old-fashioned, stompy industrial song. “If Something Gets Hard, Fuck It” is an instant classic as far as dance-floor tracks go. It also is a good show-case of the band’s off-beat sense of humor. The Noisuf-X remix is an especially good take on the song. “Almighty and Relentless” is much more on the noise side of the industrial spectrum, it’s a pounding rhythmic track with great sampling. “The Black Classroom” is a tailor-made dance floor track and has been making appearances on the play lists of DJs in the know. The XP8 remix of “Hail to the Freak” is a nice re-working of the original, in fact all the remixes are good.Uberbyte recently brought its show on the road with Nachtmahr here in the US. Listening to the album the listener will see why Uberbyte ought to be considered within the upper echelon of industrial acts. Download "Money Shot" for Free while it lasts" Buy Uberbyte-EXS Here
