Carol Masters

Universal Greetings Station

Souvenir Records

by Julie Johnson

Carol Master's knows what synthpop is all about. A very interesting mix of electronics on the latest album Universal Greetings Station. "Spacious Skies" is the opening track which is instrumental and that is melodic, and has nice beats that have a great jingle. I like the layers of electronics and the soaring synths that whirl all around. I also really like the downward progressions, and how the song really comes full cycle. "Connect" is a great linking song that has strong beats that make the some very up- tempo. I hear some classic Cure influence within the music. The vocals also go well with the music and glide right along. "Love And Dancing", starts with guitars and super raved electronics. "Love and Dancing is probably the best song on the CD, and perfect any dance club. I super mash hit! "Embrace Me" is cool and the music glides to make another great electronic pop song. This CD will give you a work out for sure. Overall, excellent music writing from Carol Masters. Definitely a CD not to pass up.
