The Finnish psychedelic hard rock band Seremonia have totally nailed the sound of acid hard rock on their self-titled debut album Seremonia.

The combination of Finnish lyrics, a metallic under-produced sound, the Kraftwerk-inspired flat and undercooled vocals by Noora Federley and the deeply psychedelic atmosphere on Seremonia is an unmatched and new experience in the world of CD releases.

Seremonia are described asinfluenced by the muddy sounds of Anglo-American proto metal, the weirdly fuzzy grooves of Latin psychedelic rock, the experimental ideas of Finnish progressive rock and universal D.I.Y.
punk rock ethics.”

The result is the album Seremonia that has the raw power of early punk and metal, the spacey quality of acid rock and the mystery of the Finnish lyrics.

After the enticing opening “Seremonia”, the album starts off with “Uhrijuhla”, a track that rocks as much as Led Zeppelin. “Rock 'n Rollin Maailma” has a dark and apocalyptic atmosphere to it, similar to Sabbath Assembly.

The slower, more stoner metal-like “Huutava Taivas, Kuiskaava Maa” and “Aamuruskon Kaupunki” use the beautiful contrast between the eerie, sharp female vocals, and the chaotic guitars.

Kosminen Ruumisvaunu” sounds like Jefferson Airplane in the 60s mixed with a shot of punk. The dark “Luciferin Käärmeet” is followed by the highlight of the album, the brilliant dark hymn “Antikristus 666”, which reads as Antikristus kuusi, kuusi, kuusi in Finnish – a track that creeps into your brain forever.

After the spacey soundscape of “Kiirastulen Tähtisumu”, the final track of Seremonia is the 60s-inspired “Hautakiven Varjossa”.

To conclude: Seremonia bring an original, in-your-face, raw kind of music with a flair of mystery and spaciness. If you like psychedelic rock and early metal and punk, check out Seremonia.
