I really have a lot of respect for the guys in Diabolic Intent. DI formed in Florida in 1998 with 5 members. After a ton of lineup changes, only two original members remain in the trio that is left. Doing everything themselves up until now, they decided they wanted to go a more primitive route on this album and went on a 24 hour flight to Johannesburg, South Africa to record.

“The Cold Path of Man” is a themed album based on religion, politics, and the evolution of man which is why they went to the place with the oldest traces of man’s origin. Diabolic Intent play brutal death/grind with a ton of tempo changes and they do it really well. The changes from death to grind really keep things interesting throughout and it never gets boring. I’ve never been a huge fan of theme based albums but I really dug “The Cold Path of Man”. This is a good album with great production that you don’t happen across too often in extreme metal.

These guys should have been signed back in 98, but did everything themselves up until last year when they signed with Dark Angel Project. They still aren’t signed on a label for US licensing which is a shame. Someone sign these guys! What is awesome about Diabolic Intent is that they offer their albums for download on their site.
