Foghorn Lonesome is the project of Eric Sparkwood, a Swedish musician with many years of experience in thrash and gothic metal, as well as with experience in composing ethereal music and neoclassic darkwave.

At the moment, Foghorn Lonesome is an unsigned band, but I don't think they will remain unsigned for long. After gaining some exposure through online radio stations, their SoundCloud page, and making it to number 1 on the alternative charts of ReverbNation for Sweden, Eric and Foghorn Lonesome are well on their way.

Currently, 10 songs are available, and these tracks show a wide variety of styles that encompasses the Foghorn Lonesome project. The red thread through all of this, seems to be a feeling of desolation and defeated.

Overall, Foghorn Lonesome is a very nice surprise. Certainly, this material needs better recording, but the music itself is very promising. There are some Type O Negative influences, with a little more electronic sounds. Unfortunately, the female guest vocals vary widely in quality, and are, at times plain awful.

“Ghosts of the Oak” and “Mariana” remind me of Swedish goth gods Tiamat, and show how promising the material of Foghorn Lonesome is at the moment.
