For those with a lust to hear new dark, cold, minimal wave with a touch of 80s vibe you are in luck! The new E.P by the Brazilian/Greek duo Hélio and Marie unleash the project Vox Insana for all your nostalgic and intrigue of the genre alike.

Starting off this 9 track E.P with the song, Dark Side this is very reminiscent to me right off the bat like Death In June, The Calling mixed with more of a darkwave undertone sure to dive you further into the unknown. We are brought to the attention of Marie's soothing vocal tone whispering amongst the night sky to breathe new life into this genre. Although about midway I started to feel confused as to which way this song would turn as it started to seem confusing with the lack of progression or drive to lead this into something “more” per-say.

The Night starts off with an orchestral like piece that swiftly transcends into a very poppy/arpegiated minimalistic bass-line approach to darkwave.

As the rain falls in Colors of Silence letting the emotion-drawn piano undertake the night as if sitting inside the night's casted shadows while the rain and wind beg to show its true colors of unsaturated, free at will like temptation that shines as an intro to the next track entitled I Can Feel You leading us on the same path we began with minimalistic drums, bouncing bass-lines and synth arpeggios.

Lullaby by far is probably one of my favorites on this release with Marie's vocals truly showing the utmost potential for all the eagerness that awaits a full length album comprising no minimal to key change this track is very well down with all the space, emotion, and chorus-like pads that sway in the midst.

The Last track on Vox Insana's Obsession E.P is a remix of Dark Side, taking a guess as to this might just be a second version done by Vox Insana as well. This adds more of an industrial-nosier aspect to the track but I still feel as if the original was such an amazing song all its own.

To sum up this E.P I definitely can’t wait to see what is in store next for Vox Insana. Although I felt like some of the tracks just had a “leading to nowhere” type of feel that just added a lot of confusion to me, I still feel as though there is a lot of talent here and with only this E.P being under there belt for an official release there is much time in the future for one amazing full length by Vox Insana.
