Autumn Clan

Requiem to the Sun (CD)

WAB

Review by Julie Johnson 8/02

Autumn Clan brings out excellent hard and heavy bass gothic metal. The music is dark melodic and thick. At first I was wishing that that the vocals were deeper, but after a few tracks in I really got into the vocals and felt they were very fitting. The guitar has great progression and spotlighted sections for solos to really shine throughout the album. You can hear this especially in the song called "Hollow", and "Abuse Me". The guitar added the thickness to the album. "Dream Sequence", has an awesome melodic guitar and drum pattern, and the vocals as well. I really liked lyrics when the singer sang, "let you dream again". That whole vocal part was really catchy. The bass and guitar really get a work out in this song, and definitely are a main focus musically. What I really like about Autumn Clan is the music is not over played, it is clear and the vocals are as well. You can really enjoy listening to this, and it will stick with you. It should be one of those albums that you should talk about, because this band should be one of the leaders in this genre. Again, I really could not find any bad songs, or songs that were not able to listen the whole way through. Other songs worth checking out are "New Gothicism", "Desire", and "Dissonant Trip".
