God Module is back again with their latest release Sèance which marks their 8th album release.I haven't really listened to the band since 2007 when they just released the album Let's Go Dark.

I actually liked that release even if I thought it was a bit corny and cheese when it comes to both lyrics and titles of the tracks. What grasped me back then was the playful melodies and nice beats that really made you sing along and go out and drink a few too many beers and have a great time.

Since the years have passed and I've become older I have grown further away from this music and so I have a really hard time really enjoying this album. Don't get me wrong , Séance is not bad but it feels a bit flat and old. In my ears I don't really hear any major changes or evolution of the music or the vocals. Sure you don't need to evolve a lot to actually sound good but a few tweaks here and there and a few changes is always good.

The music is very straight forward with a few songs that have some really nice melody hooks , for instance you have the track "Doppelganger” which has a very simple but catchy melody that I really enjoy. Another interesting track is "Extinct” which sounds a teeny bit Combichrist influenced but still with the God Module sound. "Video” is also a pretty interesting track because I actually got hooked on it but I can't really explain why ,seems like there is some part of it that kind of hypnotizes me.

So I named two tracks I really enjoy and that to me stand out at least in my ears but there is one track that I really disliked and that one is called "Into the Outside” and here you might ask , why doesn't he like this? Well first and fore most the female vocals aren't very good, they feel a bit powerless and flat and just falls behind the music almost sounds like she's a bit bored.

In the long run this is God Module and if you are a die hard fan or just like the early work you will most definitely like this one too. For me I can't say I am very impressed and it won't be on my must buy list. The production is nice and clean and the vocals are pretty understandable even with all the vocal fx they use, but in the end it falls kind of flat and I got tired of listening to it pretty quickly.
