Some years ago I heard "Kingdom" and "Honor" by VNV Nation and was immediately smitten.
A special sound that this EBM band possesses that people always want more of and so do I.
Automatic is brand new from VNV Nation and is starts off quietly with "On Air" and it's simply that. Wait, there's more, you know VNV NATION. "Space & Time,"slams back into their Synth-EBM root building us up for gems like "Resolution" (that feels like Honor's b-side) a futurepop/dancefloor groove.
I know where this is going, to greatness and I am right. This album tells a story has some ambient/electronic pieces that bridges all the songs together.
"Streamline" is a throwback to Donna Summers meets synthpop. Clever,! (and I say this with a smile)
Other standouts that make this a strong new release: "Gratitude","Nova" and "Radio," which makes for a nice beginning, middle and end. Overall, Automatic is a well-crafted album with a mission of time, space, radio frequencies, stompy boots, and some softer moments at times, that shows the band's maturity and willingness to progress as the times have as well. What's not to love, it's VNV Nation!
Keep it up boys and we will indeed hear you in 2020.
