M.O.D. is the project of the interestingly-named Maryhell Oxygen Destroyer, an Italian vocalist who has teamed up with programmer and producer Vhelena to release her first demo. A combination of minimalist electronics and spooky moods predominates. After the funeral church organ intro of "Makaber Tanzt," things take a turn for the more club-friendly but still gothic-flavored "Die Sklaverei," with eerie keyboards bounding morosely over a stripped down EBM rhythm laced with ghostly industrial clanks. "Todlicher Krebs" has more of a techno vibe, though Maryhell's deadpan spoken vocals keep things grim rather than funky, while "Kiss the Whip" finishes things up with a comparatively slick S&M-themed dance track that comes across like a more amateur version of Die Form's early work. This is just M.O.D.'s first demo, and the sometimes muddled vocal production shows that the project still has much to improve upon, but fans of EBM and darkwave's more melodramatically creepy side should enjoy this.
