Artist: Project Rotten CD Title: Bleed You Dry E.P. Label: Unsigned Reviewer: Robert Eaton Date: 3-31-10 When we last heard from emerging Swedish “horror-electro” act Project Rotten, it was for the solid, if imperfectly produced, “Machine Made Flesh” demo. The new E.P. “Bleed You Dry” features six tracks somewhat in the vein of Tactical Sekt or God Module. The E.P. is uncompromisingly dark and rich with horror-movie samples, and this time the rough edges are gone in the production. The result is a strong E.P., that should bring further exposure to this project. Of the E.P.’s songs: the title track is a superb piece of harsh electro. The song is dark and melodic, with samples fitting of its dark soundscape. “Confessions of a Killer” which had been on the demo, returns here re-mastered. The result is an improved take on the song, which is another strong track. “Left to Die” is another strong song, with a hypnotic, discordant synth-line, similar to an early Hocico track. For fans of hash electro/terror EBM, this E.P. further shows that Project Rotten is a project to watch. Hopefully the band’s sound continues to mature and it won’t be long until this E.P. is followed by a full-length. https://www.myspace.com/projectrotten |
