Yendri is a one -woman dark electro project from Germany. She does all the writing, programming and lyrics herself. Not only that, she's AMAZING at all of it! I first heard Yendri in a remix she did for L'ame Immortelle years back that I thought was both brilliant and very, very different.

Now some time later and I found her on Myspace and discovered her 7th album, "Malfunction". It came out early this year but it's and album that will stand the test of time for sure. Fourteen tracks of dark, sensuous and foreboding Gothlectro with and amazing sense of appeal both musically and vocally. Her voice is so intensely plaintive and well, scary, that it entrances me every time I listen. Her lyrics are equally haunting and explore much personal pain and chaos. Songs like "Just Hurt Me" and "Deep Isolation" paint portraits of a recluse who is just hanging on to the ragged edges of society and draws much from her own despair and frustrations. Out of  it all comes this beautiful, eerie music that I know will do well on the dancelfloor and the budoir.

Every track has it's own special appeal and I can't say I was bored for a moment. Somewhat slow in tempo it's the antiodote to the poison of jagged brutish noise-for-the-sake-of-noise that seems to be in vogue right now. This music has romance, art and a deeper sense of the life less lived on the road less traveled. It stands out from the dread assortment of "now" bands and really SAYS  something.

I so appreciate Yendri for what she does and most of all for being an individual in a time where trends sell and real art seems to go unnoticed. Thanks so much, "Little Undead" ;-)
