Neuroticfish

Sushi

Dancing Ferret Disc

Review By Julie Johnson (4/02)

Sushi by Neuroticfish is full of amazing re-mixes of various songs taken from the Wake Me Up Ep, the veelocity single N1, and the M.F.A.P.L. single. Neuroticfish is an excellent electronic act. "Wake me up" is one of the songs you will find re-mixed. "Wake me up" ( JAB -remix) is fresh, and has great club beats. It will definitely get you moving. It is exciting to listen too. "Care", which is previously unreleased starts off with piano, and melodic vocals that carry, and then the powerful synths come in, along with the same piano pattern. After the intro the drumming programming sets in, and the song still reminds slower, but picks up a little with these new beats. The vocals remind me of Depeche Mode, S. M Kline really has amazing vocals. "Care", could be a electronic ballad. "Rotten" is also another great track full of electronic pulses. The synth lines soar and have dark elements. The vocal production is great, very clear and smooth vocals, and this song was a demo. There is also a mix of samples used into this track. There are a lot of beats, and I like how the beats at times becomes fast and driving especially at the end of this song. I liked most of the Wake Me Up mixes expect the (recompiled mix). It was good, but just did not stand out and nothing really grabbed my attention. "Velocity"is a high energy and danceable electronics, but I feel "Wake Me Up" has the edge over this song. The last part of the CD were singles from the M.F.A.P.L single. M.F.A.P.L ( Intelligent Tribal Freak Mix was dance friendly and well laid out. "All I say" was a slower track, were they beats were not there for dancing, but carrying the song along. Overall, Neuroticfish is definitely worth while checking out. Great electronics, dark beats, great vocals. Everything you would like when listening to dark EBM.
