Wreath of Barbs

Metropolis Records

Wreath of Barbs is razor sharp! This is one of those CD's that will take you back for a second, and then you are wow, this is intensive aggro-industrial with so much to offer. This CD combines so many electronic elements, that it is hard to begin. First the CD has great industrial elements, mixed with EMB and darkness. What a perfect package all in one CD! What I really like about this CD is how it is in your face aggressive electronic beats. "Wreath Of Barbs" (Album Mix) is stunning, it has great drum programming, and takes you down from the first 2 songs that are very strong and aggressive which is great. It is a nice transitional song. I like the distorted vocals. It was used at the right time in the CD. This song is slower and brings out more of a depression and aloneness. With this song, you get a sense of exploration. "Dr. Thodt", has a female voice that adds a little twist into the CD. This track again is on the downbeat side, but has more industrial feel and heaviness. "Mankind's Disease" starts off slower, with some classical tones, but then it turns in a different direction with a different kind of programming then I have not heard in past songs on this CD. "Mankind Disease" is an instrumental track, it is catchy within this albums different elements. One of my favorite tracks is the more industrial EBM oriented "ChristFuck" I really like the structure and how this song flows. Again, it is another catchy blend of beats. "Troops under Fire" is a good track with great workings of EBM that come crashing through this CD. The female voice is brought back in this song. Sounds like there is some sort of torture going on when you here the samples. This is a Wumpscut CD that fans have been waiting for awhile now. Wreaths of Barbs is an excellent blend of electronics, that will leave an everlasting effect, and will pump us up for more music like this. (8jj)jj

This CD was sent to us by the artist's label. As a Sideline journalist as well, you may remember my interview with Wumpscut a few issues back.
