Reviews TV Show Reviews Miami Ink: Season 3, Episode 1 (6-12-07)

The third season of Miami Ink began on Tuesday, June 12th, 2007. What will the gang be up to next? From the looks of the previews, the boys will be boys and with Ami’s and Chris’s new bar, who knows what could happen. The season opened with the last scene where tattoo artist Kat Von D, gets the boot from the show and Miami Ink. Not to worry, want more of Kat Von. D, she will have her own show called L.A. Ink starting in August 2007. Will Ami and the rest of the gang be able to find her replacement? The boys are going to be testing out some new guest artists. The first episode interested one new female candidate, but is she edgy enough? I was looking for her tattoos, but they seemed to be hidden under her shirt. Tennis anyone? The new candidate least got the boys out of the shop for some exercise. They have to keep those bodies looking great some how. Now sure I liked them in those tennis shorts? At first she seemed like she would be able to handle drawing up a horror fan’s Zombie tattoo, she said an hour, but looks like she got a little stuck and had to get help from Ami. Not sure, what to think, taking a long time, showing up late on the first day?  The tattoo was really nice and he seemed happy. I do like how she could bring out darker themed tattoos on the show. I would of like it over just a tad bit more center, but maybe that is how it was suppose to go with the shape of his arm. Annie, how sweet she seems. Who says older people can’t be just as cool and get a tattoo, but when you heard why, it was a little sad to hear. Annie, an 80 year old Florida resident was preparing for hurricane season in a permanent way. She got this nice little “A”, which represents the A in her name, so she would be to be identified if she died in a hurricane. Well, not a bad idea, but lets hope she is not loss in a hurricane. Everyone has a different reason for getting a tattoo, and like Darren says, “Memorial Tattoos” are very common. You could really tell how much the next client enjoyed her horse “Thunder”. The tattoo had great color and was very vivid. I have two questions, did anyone tell her maybe she had to much clumpy eye mascara? Like, comb that out! My second question, what was wrong with you people for not telling her horse was dead for like 3 months! Next, there was this one client everyone for sure was waiting to see come back to get her leg tattoo and where people were talking about her the next day during “Miami Ink Talk” at work.  I thought vampires did not like the daylight, as Chris Garver said, “She must be a day-walker. Whoa, that girl was really into being a vampire, but I liked how she asked for the vampire to have a reflection in a mirror. Maybe she was nervous, or maybe she was not all that smart about her vampire culture as we all thought she was. Where do you go for implants of bite marks? I have never seen that before, but her vampire woman tattoo was pretty hot looking and the colors, black, gray, red white looked awesome. Chris Garver has a great eye and perspective and really made that tattoo come to life, or “dead” in this case. She must have loved when she saw the blood dripping from her skin from the tattoo needle. Some people are risk takers, and when one client came in and told Ami to do what ever, Ami must have been a kid in candy –shop, well, least in the tattoo shop. Pretty cool old-school work, I am glad he did not do like American eagle or something, not knocking that but what Ami did was great with the coffin, candle, etc. I was almost hoping the guy would have gone for a full-sleeve, he was half way there. Whether you are getting a memorial tattoo, or symbols in your life like, like the one client who got 2 symbols on the backs of her wrists symbolizing strength and courage, which are simple yet important, it just validates that tattoos are meaningful pieces of art and should not be looked down upon and anyone can get one, as long as your over 18. Previews from the next show, show a blind man getting a tattoo, a look into a trip to Las Vegas? I am sure they got lucky, pun is intended.  I wonder if they visited the Palm Resort and Casino and checked out Hart & Huntington Tattoo? Miami Ink, Tuesdays at 10p.m. on TLC and what a season it could be.
