“This Is Electro Pop” serves both as an album title and an apt description of what’s inside. Polish electroclash act Nun do their best imitation of cheesy ‘80s dance music, but at least they do it with aplomb. It’s not great, of course; the vocals can be amateurish, the programming repetitive, and the computerized back-up vocals woefully dated. Still, “I Don’t Know How” is kind of cute, “It’s Not Alright” has a nice minimal house rhythm going for it it, and “Burn!” brings out the Eurotrash discotheque vibe – circa twenty years ago – in full effect, with synthetic handclaps and processed singing. Give this one a shot if you still listen to Animotion or the Human League.
