"The Charming Factor" is giving unprecedented form and a fresh, new meaning to the genre of synth-pop with the release of the debut album from Nilaihah recording artists Blind Faith and Envy.
The album is comprised of eleven creatively written, intensely seductive tracks that showcase both the emotionally alluring and soulful vocals of Charlene April and the unshakable, multi-talented songwriting, engineering, and production skills possessed by Daniel Guenther in full force, and the result is an incredibly catchy and hauntingly beautiful album, and there is no doubt in my mind that this group and songs will have no trouble finding a home in any progressive club.
Full of impressive sequencing and incredibly clever programming, "The Charming Factor" provides the listener with an exceptionally fresh outlook into the often bland and erstaz world of pop music, where so many carbon copy bands do little more than produce the same album over and over. Blind Faith and Envy however, fall far from this catergory, and have found their niche by adding a modern twist to the open minded genre that influenced them to create music in the first place.
Tracks that stood out to me included the addictive and heavenly synths and lyrics of "Major Philosopher", the superior quality and sound structure of the instrumental track "Texture", the outstanding textural synths and vocals of "Stand Me Relentless", and the the highly affecting "End Result".
Special features of "The Charming Factor" contain three excellent bonus tracks remixed by Blank, Null Device, and Neuroactive. All three artists mold the already strong songs into entirely different compositions, and the result is spectacular. Topped off by an excellent cover of Depeche Mode's "Shout", Blind Faith and Envy have produced a phenomenal album that I definitely reccommend.
