Trippy electro beats mixed with deep female vocals. This is best to describe the electronic duo known as AntiQuark. AntiQuark is composed by its two members Maren(vocals) and Ant(synthesizers, programming). After listening to this cd, I had no idea where to place their sound. Call it techno, call it dance music, call it electro-rock, whatever it is, AntiQuark sure does like to experiment with various sounds. There are 9 tracks on this cd. The first few tracks tend to almost be dancefloor friendly for example the song "lopoff effect" which had a very dance groove feeling to it. The remaining songs however tend to be more experimental, often slower. Some tracks on here reminded me a bit of Aphex Twin. One track that I was interesting was "white" which had a guitar thrown in blending in with the background electronic in the distance. I would say that AntiQuark are a very unique band who are not afraid to experiment with different areas of soundscapes.
