Trigger10D’s dark, trip-hop-influenced pop get the remix treatment here from such artists as Sister Machine Gun and Hungry Lucy as well as the band themselves. Like Collide but more groovy and danceable than laid back and sultry, Trigger10D’s coolly electronic rhythms get their warm, organic mood from understated guitars and the sensual voice of Alicia Sotelo. The band’s own remixes tend towards straightforward techno, with the new track “Play Nice” funky and minimal and the remix of “Parade” verging on house. Their remix of “You Complicate Things” stands out with deep acid beats and atmospheric guitar work. Remixes by guest artists explore diverse styles while keeping the mood intact. Sister Machine Gun’s mix of “Dirty Water” adds drum ‘n’ bass flavor, while Hungry Lucy’s take on “Elaine” is lush, jazzy trip-hop. Label mates Monstrum Sepsis add an abstract, glitchy feel to “Babyteen,” while Terminal Bliss’s Daniel Cain brings out the sadness in “Most People Don’t Forget” by slowing things down and focusing on Sotelo’s vocals. Well-suited for either the dance floor or relaxing at home, this record appeals to goths and techno fans alike.
