The first result of a new partnership between the Crunch Pod and MECHaNISMz labels, this compilation offers an excellent introduction to the newest wave of the experimental rhythmic noise underground, starting off with the weirdness of Timothy Something's "ABC's" before moving into the chopped up dark techno of C/A/T's "Liturgy," as remixed by Free Death. There's plenty of killer dance floor material, as evidenced by the brutal onslaught of "Murder This Man" by W.A.S.T.E., the evil sample-driven remix of Manufactura's "Killing You" by Vuxnut, and The Operative's surprisingly funky distorted electro on "The 36 Invisibles." Belgian electronic legends Sonar also show up with "Tone Loc," remixed by Karloz M. of Manufactura. There's also plenty of more subtle offerings, with French experimental producer Mimetic teaming up with Canada's Iszoloscope on "Hear Voices," a collection of intricate rhythms and lush synth pads, while "Interference" by D'Coli is pure cold ambient for the industrial age. Mlada Fronta's "Inside" is likewise dark and chill, with eerie electronic effects swimming amongst laid-back beats, and Skitoma's "The Void" is a tense montage of blips, beeps, and twittering. While most of these tracks are more than suited for the dance floor, this is some of the most intelligent power noise you've ever heard all crammed together on one CD. Hopefully, you'll be familiar with many of these artists already, as they represent some of the experimental industrial scene's most talented rising stars, but there's no doubt that you'll find a few new favorites here as well.
