This is Meower Noise is the debut album from the LA based Noise act, Pixelpussy.  Created by promoter and DJ, Daemon Chadeau, Pixelpussy combines the hard hitting beats of Noise with the dance floor sensibilities of early 90's electro industrial.  Chadeau created the project partially as a joke and partially with the intent to get back into song writing, after his former band Izevl disbanded in 2006.  With the help of local and virtual supporters, the joke evolved into a full-fledged project and later signed to the MoonSlave Radio label, in 2010.  The resulting album of these efforts is 8 tracks of Rhythmic Noise Industrial that easily can find a home in any DJ's sets.

This is Meower Noise seems to take into account the standard club-goer's need for catchy melodies and synth hooks, but doesn't skimp on the hard distortion and beats.  Both elements tag off throughout the album, with some songs being deliciously crunchy and stompy, and others being rather bouncy and melodic.  There are no vocals on the album save for the multitude of samples that relay very clear messages to the listener.  The songs take sharp jabs at Right-Wing politics, and religious fanaticism, but also poke fun at Noise industrial itself like on the title track This is Meower Noise or The Ass Justifies the Means.  Stand out tracks include the scathing Teabaggin' America, “That” Kind of Party, and Made in Germany.    Like all good industrial albums of the past 9 years, This is Meower Noise, closes with remixes by ESA, code 000, and Jermiah Saint.  The remixes take the Rhythmic element out of Pixelpussy, and focus on the Noise Industrial aspects solely.   While the remixes are masterfully done, they do make the songs sound  rather generic.

Remixes aside, This is Meower Noise is a strong start for Pixelpussy.   Chadeau combines his songwriting talents with a DJ's intuition of  knowing just what people want to dance to, and has created  music that hits hard both in beats and meanings, but is still fun and can laugh at itself.  If you have not had a chance to listen to This is Meower Noise, this reviewer highly recommends you click the links above now.
