As a band, Terrorfakt has defined abrasive and aggressive industrial/noise. “Re/evolution” is a collection of Terrorfakt rarities, including re-released and unreleased material. With this type of album it is often an uphill battle to sell old songs made new, especially given the wait for new material. The album, however, includes 16 tracks of relentless beats, and sampling. This may not be the new album fans are hoping for, but “Re/Evolution” still displays why Terrorfakt are masters of the genre. The album opens with the electronic whine of “One”, which is followed by the sample-driven “Deconstruction.” ”Deconstruction” is text-book dance floor noise track, and probably one of the most accessible tracks on the album. “Frontal Damage” is superb: mixing a driving beat and aggressive programming. In “A.L.F. (Muted Logic remix), the song is re-imagined as a slow groove which eventually builds towards a syncopated frenzy. Similarly, “Skullfucker (Synnack remix)” has a similar dynamic trajectory. Truth be told, there’s plenty of tracks on the album that fit the description of “filler.” But, for Terrorfakt fans, there’s enough great material here to make it worth the purchase. The album contains some unfamiliar work, as well as some that’s a new take on songs familiar to Terrorfact’s fans.
