Ghost in the Static is an industrial rock band from Bracknell, England. They recently released their debut album, 'Open Eyed Dreamer Part I : Revelation,' in February of 2011. I've had this album in my Itunes library for almost two weeks now. I can tell you from the first song “Prophecy” to the last one “Revelation”, this album is a spiritual trip for your mind. Many of the song titles display biblical meanings which describe a bleak future and the darkness that is on the horizon. Several of the tracks remind me of listening to early sounds of NIN. The track “Downer”, starts dark and continues with a distorted beat which makes me want to get up and dance. “Downer” is an example of a song reminds me of early NIN especially with the keyboard and the sounds of industrial and metal that infused with a hybrid of flowing EBM beats. I have become very fond of the song “Nihilism II: The Holocaust,” because of the dark sound injecting you with an inoculation of provocative samples and aggressive sounds that makes you want to dance. The lyrics in this track remind me of the early electro English bands. You will be astounded by this album, and it would be an excellent addition to any electro/industrial record collection.
(4 out of 5 stars)
