Flesh Eating Foundation, are a Zombie themed Electropunk experience, and this is "Dead Shall Rise", their 3rd full album, combining their love of B Movie violence and gore, with Industrial beats and Punk attitude.

Capable of going from largely electronic dance anthems, to balls out Punk Rock, "Dead Shall Rise" has one consistent thread running from start to finish, and that is the atmosphere.

There is a wonderful soundtrack quality to every song, with images of films like 28 days later, and Land Of The Dead being summoned up in my mind on a regular basis.

However, this is no twee or cheesy Misfit's style rip on these movies, it feels more like an homage, a thankful nod to Romero & co.

The sound changes from track to track with raw distorted guitars giving way to elegant synth pads before a massive trance arpeggio cuts in out of nowhere...there is no respite for the listener, no comfort zone, instead just a constantly shifting landscape of horror fueled music.

The Vocal work is distinctive, and often modulated to help with the inhuman vibe that a lot of this album is giving off, managing to maintain a melodic style without losing the energy needed to carry off such an interesting approach.

My biggest criticism would be that the pacing of the album is generally quite slow, and whilst I can see the poignancy of that in a Zombie themed album, I feel that "Dead Shall Rise" would benefit from a few well timed faster and snappier tracks just to break it up a little.

However, this is a very enjoyable listen overall, and is definitely different from anything else you will find in the electronic or rock genres, and for the price of only £4, there really isn't an argument for not trying it!

Not perhaps a great album, but a good one, and a very fun one!
