Musically speaking, Stiff Donut is pretty bad even for a project that started out as a Limp Bizkit parody; all eight tracks on this EP sound basically the same, with tinny keyboards and smashing snares in the vein of early Wax Trax! industrial rock punctuated by sludgy thrash metal power chords. That's OK, though, since project creator Mike Hymson clearly intends this to be about the lyrics, which he delivers in a snotty sneer, rather than the rhythms and melodies. Unfortunately the lyrics here are also pretty stupid; while "I'm a Sexy Goth Girl" and "Throw That Crying Baby Out of the Airplane" are mildly amusing, if mean-spirited, "Platinum Credit Card," Hymson's ode to dating, just comes off as a bitter screed. Probably the best of the bunch is "Gene Simmons Is Right About Everything," which takes aim at the credibility of the underground and scores a direct hit with lines like "I don't want to be Thurston Moore / I want to be Nikki Sixx." The album as a whole, though, isn't laugh out loud funny; at best, it'll make you snort a little through your nose and roll your eyes.
