This single from Evestus is perhaps most noteworthy for all the genres crammed into it in the form of various remixes; then again, perhaps it's not such a surprise, considering that the original version, presented here as a radio edit, also manages to incorporate a number of seemingly disparate elements. It starts off with a tense industrial beat and vocals spat staccato through gritted teeth; similar to the work of Korn's Jonathan Davis, the effect is that of a man on the edge of a mental breakdown. As the chorus kicks in, the gears shift into dark but catchy alternative rock, but even that's just a musical feint, with bouncing strings and keyboards jumping in to ensure that no one mistakes Evestus for a typical rock act. With such strong source material, the remixes could have easily gone downhill, but for the most part all eight mixes have something new to offer. Some move in expected directions; Apocryphal Superorganism's "Ohverdus Mix" takes things into evil breakbeat territory, SunStream's "Jumpstyle Mix" offers a dubstep take on things, and Evil DJ Magdalena's "Sacrificial Moo Mix" is pure old-school electro. There are surprises, as well. The "Sugar Creek Maakivi Miks" is almost bluesy, getting rid of most of the electronics in favor of electric guitars. Evestus offers up his own "Nostalgic Mix," backed by crunchy piano loops and mellow strings, and George "DzDz" Gurjev's "Dramatic Mix" is, true to its title, gorgeous and cinematic, a classical soundtrack interpretation with only the barest connection to the original version. Solid throughout, this single manages to stay interesting despite featuring nine versions of the same song in a row, which is no small feat.
