As a fan of the earlier work of the band “Dopestars Inc,” I got really excited when I heard that the singer “Victor Love” had a side project called “Epochate”. And this leads to the review of “Epochate’s.” debut album called “Chronicles of a Dying Era”. I would call this a mix of industrial meeting an apocalyptic orchestra. The sound is very grand, but it's very hard to know when you should listen to this kind of music because it's not easy listening. I also feel that the sound gets a bit repetitive after a while and the song don't differ that much from each other. This could very well work as a soundtrack to a movie or maybe even a cyberpunk musical.But it's nothing I personally would sit at home and listen to just like that. “Chronicles of a Dying Era” has it's golden songs if you got time to listen through it , the songs are about 4min each but they feel like 8min because the lack of happenings in the songs. Two good songs are “Substantia” and “Needle hive” otherwise there aren't any of the songs that really appeal to me. I recommend this if you like apocalyptic industrial orchestra music or maybe movie like “Repo the Genetic Opera” because this CD would really fit as its soundtrack. As for me I would probably need surgery after listening to this for too long.
