British trio Flesh Eating Foundation don't have as much polish as they could, but they've sure got plenty of gusto. With energized punk vocal work, crunchy drums, and grinding guitars, "Drained" and "Mean" have the aggression and attitude of early Chicago-style industrial rock in the vein of Lard and early Die Warzau. Nervous, jittery electronic effects round out the sound, with classic dark electro drum machines calling to mind old Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly on "Join Us." The production can be weak at times, and the guitar buzz and vocal effects on "Join Us" don't really add anything, but there's still plenty of raw power in evidence to appeal to fans of the old Wax Trax! Sound.
