What I like immensely about Barren Earth is their melodic sensibility. Nothing turns me on more than a band that can be heavy as hell, but still understand melody and how to make it fit into a heavy metal song; Barren Earth understand this concept. All of the musicans are clearly accomlished and the lead guitar playing inspires me to pick up my guitar and play. Swift alternate picking is a skill that every lead guitar player should have and these boys have it for sure; John Petrucci would be proud. So checkout their new EP "Our Twilight" and listen to what a metal band should be; heavy as fuck, melodic and full of great musicians. Barren Earth offer it.
