Artist: Tombthroat
Album: Blood Red History
Label: Twilight-Vertrieb

This is a decent outing from the German band Tombthroat. Tombthroat has been around for awhile starting as a black metal band, progressing into grindcore and then death metal. Calling their playing style now groovy death-grind, "Blood Red History" is an eleven track digipack CD of brutal death metal. "Evil Ass's" growls fit the music perfectly as they run through track after track dealing with hatred, religion and the atrocities of man. It took me awhile to start to like this album and I'm not sure why. Once I started listening to it and hearing the mix of death metal and thrash, and how well Bjorn (leads), Peter (rhythym guitar) and Volker (bass) play together I started to like it. Alexander Wenz does a good job on the drums and he doesn't play strictly blast beats which bores me with a lot of the other brutal death bands. If you are a fan of brutal death, this album could go either way for you. I gave it a chance and liked it. You might too.
