Artist: Faith & The Muse CD Title: Ankoku Butoh Label: Mercyground Reviewer: Jules Cohen Date: 2-1-10 As a very longtime fan of (friends) Faith & the Muse, there's that eager anticipation...kind of like being a kid in a candy store when you hear that a new release is on the rise. Then the release lands, and not only are you overjoyed, but wowed. Monica and William have never been stronger musically, vocally or divinely inspired. There's so much to say about this album, and I will give you a soundbyte so that you can not waste a beat and get yourself a copy! It's the drumming, Monica's heavenly vocal chimes, and old skool goth -"The Red Crown" that conjures I'm sure Monica and William's faves from the good ole late 70s/early 80s Batcave days. It's so nice to hear William on vox and Monica grow continuously in her craft as one of my favorite voices of the ethereal/goth realm in the last 20 yrs. "Kodama" shows off beauty, Monica's voice and a dreamy lure with a goth heart. An awesome duet on "Sovereign" and my personal favorites "Bushido"...a driving force of Buddhist temple dancers and "Harai" which I promise to add to my meditation songs on my ipod...ahh the birds. Now here is a bit of extra great news: FATM is about to tour, so stay tuned: mercyground.com for all things Faith and The Muse. Add Faith & the Muse on Myspace!
