Mors Syphilitica

"Sampler"

(Projekt)

"This was sent to me by the band, so my many thanks! This sampler highlights the last three albums from NY based dark ethereal rockers, M.S. who Merge indie, psychedelic rock w/ Middle Eastern, folk, & medieval elements. They're quite a regular staple in the gothic scene yet like most bands of the underground, they rarely get the recognition they so highly deserve as is evident on spellbinding sonatas like "Skins of Lovers", "One Sad Thought", "Whispers in the House of Truth", "Infanta", "The Chains of Reason", etc. The seductive nymph, Lisa Hammer roars thunderous operatic laments along w/ husband Eric Hammer's surreal melancholic guitar strains where they're still operating under a cloud of angelic beauty & morbid shadows, marking each fragile ballad of theirs a real work of art. As always (& quite respectably) they're still refusing interviews, keeping them still a mysterious musical entity wrapped in a cloud of smoke but I suppose that's what makes them so damn appealing! I highly recommend this extremely talented & rather underrated band to anyone interested in dark music, new age, etc. It's romantic, shoe gazing renaissance at its best." [-Marcos-]
