Artist: Secretwyrd
Title: Put The Kids To Bed
Label: Hummingbird
Secretwyrd’s album “Put The Kids To Bed” blends progressive rock and gothic sounds with furiously strong vocals by Penelope Zing that haunt and soar with confidence. With smoky-silver, sizzling masses of music being generated from band members Killer D and Will Bowden, there is a sense of empowerment and ironclad attitude not to be messed with.
Secretwyrd locks the listener in with Penelope’s mega voice (think Grace Slick), lyrics that are emotional, pure and thought provoking, and with music that beats like a thousand hearts, in the middle of a marathon race while the air is hot and misty. My ear-selected favorites that affected me most are “Maybe We Will”, “Lady Mantis”, “The Sick” and “Marionette”.
Here’s to an awesome band that I’m extremely looking forward to following their career.
