Reviews CD Reviews Ethereal Midnight Syndicate- Out of the Darkness

Midnight Syndicate is Edward Douglas and Gavin Gozka and form the name alone you can conjure what type of music they make. Altogether lovely and quite, quite dark, this is a departure from the normal Graveyard Disco we hear in the clubs and on most radio. These "pieces" are mostly short yet so exquisite in their composition they bear no lack to the listener. Ghostly cello and  eerie synths coupled with bass tones that bring thoughts of a London Fog and Jack the Ripper right behind you! AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!  I love every piece on this album so I won't mention any favorites. I would love to use any one of these songs to begin a set (dj) and bring a proper mood to the dance floor.

The entire release is a retrospective with the exception of  the songs "Return of the Apparition", "Prisoner of Time" , "Journey into Dementia" and Scenes from "The Dead Matter". I'm not well familiar with the duo but am learning much through this process and enjoying it all ! This kind of experimental/film score/gothic music is a treat to my ears and mind. I am reminded of a scripture that says: Proverbs 25:20 "Singing light songs to the heavyhearted is like pouring salt in their wounds." My wounds are mercifully tended by this magnificent music.
