Artist: Psyclon Nine CD Title: Crwn Thy Frnicatr Label: Metropolis Records Reviewer: Kyle Kucate Date: 10-15-06 |
Psyclon Nine is one band within the industrial realm that does something a bit different from all other acts. They combine harsh EBM with black metal(imagine Suicide Commando meets Cradle of Filth) Their first album Devine Infekt(released on Noitekk) presented that they two genres can mesh together. The second album, INRI was somewhat less industrial compared to their debut. As for what Psyclon Nine has to present now, enter Crwn Thy Frnicatr. The black metal inspiration still remains, but possibly more visible than before. At times I thought I was listening to Dimmu Borgir. There was a great deal of guitar used and less synth. Tracks like "scar of the deceiver" "better than suicide" and "crwn thy frnicatr" are really more in the sense of rocking out to evil. One track that does offer a slight bit of a EBM vibe is "flesh harvest." While this album may turn away most industrial music fans for being too metal, however at the same time will attract more fans who like both industrial and black metal.
