Mario Silizium Celebrese is without a doubt the master of Gothic electro as the last album “Ich Bin Gothic” proved and I now have the honour of reviewing his four track E.P “Schwartz Raum” which translated means (Black Space) although there is nothing black about this E.P it is full of colour and awash with plenty to savour on the palette that in turn will paint its own pictures as you listen to the masterpieces of Mario Celebrese who is indeed the backbone and creator Silizium.

“Die Letzte Trane” – (The last Tear) is haunting as it is stunning and has plenty of enticing moments that are captured within its sophisticated and glorious swathe of eternal beauty. It holds a sinister feel that sends shivers down the spine and as the track finishes there is a surprise as the music bit by bit doesn’t fade but compacts itself.

The title track of the E.P “Schwartz Raum” – (Black Space) is fiery and pulsates with plenty of rhythm and shows a good raw quality and harsh vocal that plays alongside a haunting urgent synth sound that is deliciously wrapped in an ever growing wash of tempestuous grooves and up tempo beats and is a highly exceptional track, with superb harmonies to boot, that drive its urgency to the forefront.

My favourite track being “Ich Bin” – (I am) It starts off with a haunting euphoric keyboard then just explodes into a bubbling rhythmic wash and the vocal rap like chant is compelling – so much so that I have been listening non-stop since the previous night! The hard edged beats go a long way to exciting this electro head!!

“Geh Deinen Weg” – (Go away) is also superbly haunting and reaches out its tendrils of extreme sophistication, as it powers up with a harder edge vocal and houses an urgent compelling synth tone that demands immediate attention – and gets it in abundance. It holds a strong sinewy rhythmic swathe that can only be described as addictive – but then again Silizium is pure addiction and I want more!

To Sum up:

Is there anything this man cannot do? The sounds emanating from the speakers are just thrilling and scintillating, with powerful synth patterns and complex rhythms that just sweep you into oblivion. Dark and blossoming into a rich textured layer of sophistication, it is wonderfully powerful and vibrant and far reaches into the darkest recesses of the mind that will in turn provoke beautiful imagery that simply cannot be ignored

I should be jealous of Mario not only has he produced some fine music with equally superb vocals - he can put his make-up on straight... something I have not managed to master yet!

All in all this is just one superb E.P from start to finish. So if you are looking for passionate, sinister, haunting, compelling and indeed addictive music - now is the time to sample Silizium – looking forward to hearing more - that is for definite!
