Short disc, short review.  Entrzelle hails from Los Angeles, CA, from which founding artist David Chamberlain introduces himself with a nearly apologetic bio page bemoaning the lack of a live presence for his act.  A fair introduction, given the usual hyperbole most unknown acts present themselves with; one can hardly accuse him of being dishonest.

There seems to be a reasonable lack of pretense with this self-titled disc as well, again a welcome change from the norm in dark electronic music.  At times the music rebels against being merely straightforward darkwave, certainly an artifact of Chamberlain's classical training; "Bloodborne" presents itself with a pleasantly segmented arrangement that shifts quite abruptly in the first minute, proving to be a surprisngly complete musical expression in a genre not accustomed to compositional efforts.  The [satellite] remix of "Dawn", while unfortunately a mostly instrumental track, also chugs along with interesting variation.

Chamberlain's vocals fail him on "Life Liberty", a song partly but not wholly resurrected by an interesting chime pattern in the chorus; the monotonous melody (or lack thereof) fails to find resolution, choosing instead to merely limp along until its gradual expiration.  "Outlive" falls into a similar trap, its shifting background buried too far back into the mix to feel like a true usical progression.

Overall, it's actually a fairly quality disc.  "Life Liberty" and "Outlive" would probably serve well enough as dance fodder for your local spooky club, though they might not strongly hook the listener.  "Bloodborne" and "Dawn", however,  engage on a purely musical level, a rarity for the genre, and for that the disc is worth a listen.
