REVIEW:

Hatemagick’s creator, Jon Andre Lundal, describes his music as the channeling his energy from his previous lifetimes. Cybermechanical Antichristian Phenomenon is third musical release of his channeling and brings us a compilation of songs and sounds that go from upbeat and catchy to dark and brooding. Most of the vocals are evil sounding whispers as heard on “Knight Cain from Alien Dimension 8” and “Desire to obey.”  The vocals have the kind of sound that you don’t want to hear coming from under your bed at night, but they definitely fit into Hatemagick’s music.

The music itself is very synth heavy on almost every track, but you would expect that for this style of music. “Knight Cain from Alien Dimension 8” is one song that does break away slightly from the harshness of the rest of the album with its middle part being very calm has a soothing piano melody. The last track on the album, “Stars and Nebulas” is probably the most approachable candidate for playing at clubs, with its upbeat tempo and strong keyboard line.

Hatemagick describes its music as alien and aggressive, to which I must agree it does touch upon throughout the entire album. One can definitely hear the darkness and cold influence on the music, with the group being from Northern Norway, and Jon himself having very mystical views on himself and his music. Hatemagick has recently hit the number 1 chart spot for Electronica/Dance on Reverbnation for Wellington, NZ; so people ARE listening to what Hatemagick has to say. Perhaps we should be listening too.
