Bitch Brigade presents, Pastel Aggressive, the companion remix collection their debut album, Dendrite. Sounding like a combination of Ladytron and Ayria, with some of Angelspit's cynicism thrown into the mix, Bitch Brigade describes themselves as “Bubblegum Cyber”. A lifestyle that they explain quite well on the track of the same name. Rather than charge fans for this 10 track remix album, the band has chosen to release it on their BandCamp page at the low cost of “Name Your Own Price”.
Pastel Aggressive features remixes of the song Bubblegum Cyber with a few variations on Licky the Carnivorous Pony thrown in as well. While this reviewer was disappointed that only two tracks from this promising EBM act were showcased, the remixes that are presented are varied and eclectic enough to make it sound like 10 separate songs. For example the Polluted Axis and Glue Factory remix of Licky the Carnivorous Pony, is light and bouncy, while the CTRLSHIFT Remix turns it into a synthpop floor-filling club track. The Pyskkle remix mirrors the dark nature of the song's lyrics with a slower tempo, and echoing vocals. Pretty much every aspect of dark Electronica is represented on this album. Noize, EBM, Synthpop, and Electro Industrial. Its kind of like Bruderschaft's Forever, but without the depressing romantic lyrics.
Fans of Bitch Brigade will definitely want these remixes for their collection and this reviewer highly recommends it to any club DJ as the many variations and styles presented make this a perfect album for any set no matter what the theme.
