Artist: Audioplug
CD Title: "X-Posed"
Label: Decadance Records
Reviewer: Shaun Hamiltion
Date: 4/5/04
Dark trance? Dark techno? Dark electro-EBM? You could call Audioplug any one of these and still miss a few parts to their overall sound. It's very futuristic, bringing to mind Haujobb's classic "Solutions For A Small Planet" and a little bit of their "Matrix" CD as well as Headscan and "Silvertears" era Evil's Toy, but with more emphasis on melody versus the avant garde side of things. Clever digital synthlines tag along with the dark, melodic techno beats, and the robotic (ala Kraftwerk) vocals detailing a stream of conscience style of lyrics. Tracks like "I'm Perilous", "X-Posed" and "Disoriented" will keep the techno and electro-heads occupied either on the headphones or the dancefloors, while tracks like "Acidify Me" will keep the goth and industrial crowd in a trance. So there's something for everyone from this insanely talented group, and I expect their next CD to really start pushing the envelope even more. Keep an eye out for them, you're probably going to be hearing much more about them in the future!
