Hailing from Sin City, aka Las Vegas, this band is definitely not staying in Vegas. This is one of those bands that are not to be missed. If you have not heard of The Killers yet you will. This is probably one the first modern/alternative rock MTV bands that I have actually liked in a long time. They are young and energetic, and their new CD is HOT FUSS! What I like about The Killers is their mix of rock and electronics. It is quirky, and it rocks. If you like Psychedelic Furs mixed with Duran Duran and U2, you will really dig The Killers. Their melodies are catchy, and the lyrics have many aspects, including boyfriends who look like girlfriends that you use to have. Their music has a lot of rock crunch and those keyboards are very uplifting. I would probably even like this band without the use of keyboards, but I hope they never change their mix! This is a CD to get excited about! What songs should you pay attention to? Well...all of them, of course! Seriously, though, top picks include "Somebody Told Me", "Mr. Brightside", Smile Like You mean It" (which has the most U2 Joshua Tree era influence in the guitar hooks), "Andy, You're a Star", and the moody "Everything Will be Aright", a slower piece with added vocal effects. Hot Fuss is a collection of upbeat rock/pop with electronics as well as an example of what good rock and electronics are all about.
