Cover-art-(small) thumb

Hailing from Vancouver, Washington, Atlas And The Astronaut are a rock quartet who released their first, self-titled EP in July 2012. Their music is a light-hearted blend of progressive rock, postmodern rock, alternative rock, with a bite of punk and a layer of indie sauce.

The music of Atlas And The Astronaut is energetic, honest and direct. Even though layers of prog rock are embedded in their music, these guys don't go off on tangents nor loose themselves in over-complicated finger-virtuosity.

The combination of adding sound effects with their typical prog rock flavor to pumping rock songs might be surprising. The opening track, “Stone Burner”, is a dreamy, prog rock soundscape. I was completely taken by surprise when hearing the second track “Zakynthos” for the first time. This punk-inspired smashing garage rock track was not what I heard coming.

With 8 tracks on 24 minutes, Atlas And The Astronaut – EP, gives you a few 5 hour Energy shots. Short, punchy, spiky tracks that roll and rock and more: great groovy guitar playing, drums that make your feet move and energizing vocals (although sometimes the vocalist is overdoing his twang).

Check out the lovely artwork that comes with the album as well – it's as uplifting as the music of Atlas And The Astronaut.

If you like indie rock bands on summer festivals, then check out Atlas And The Astronaut, and their wall-crushing energy!
