Organic Rock is a good collection of songs for its musicianship. Fourteen songs ranging in styles from blues to rock to at times funk, the album finds itself lacking some luster. Much of the songs play like background music for a video game and can become monotonous. The musical ability of Jesse is defiantly not to be questioned, as he delivers great performances of rhythm and lead guitars. Songs like “Ion Chord” and “Mako” have an almost New York Dolls or Cramps feel to them. But with the repetitive nature of many of the songs one yearns for a vocal line to break up the wall of guitar sound. At times one can almost imagine where a vocal line could come in, and even bring some songs more to life. Not without its charm the album is still worth a listen.
