The Dresden Dolls In Paradise DVD

  Yes, "The Dresden Dolls in Paradise" is all it's
cracked up to be and more!  Since I haven't had the
pleasure of seeing the Dresden Dolls perform, I was
absolutely thrilled to find this DVD in a local
bookstore, which I was certainly not expecting.  Ten
songs are featured, recorded live at the Paradise Rock
Club on June 5th, 2005 under surreal blue lights.
This concert was up close and personal, as it goes,
and is excellent in its entirety.   That being said,
highlights for me were Good Day, Missed Me, Girl
Anachronism, and especially a rousing cover of Black
Sabbath's "War Pigs".  Amanda Palmer's vocals are
somehow both delightfully seductive and bitingly
sarcastic, along with her rollicking yet ominous
piano.   Brian Viglione does a fine job with his
tight, focused, and powerful percussion, and they are
both simply exquisite on stage.  This high energy
performance only slows down enough for the audience to
catch their breath, and when it's over the viewer
longs for more.  And fortunately, there is indeed
more!  "A Life in the Day of the Dresden Dolls" is a
personal look at a typical day with the Dresden Dolls
which begins in the style of an old silent movie.
Extras are two live songs from the Roskilde Festival
in Denmark 2005; and the videos Coin-Operated Boy and
Girl Anachronism.  Approximately two hours long,  "The
Dresden Dolls in Paradise" is a great DVD from a great
duo who raise performance to an art form, and lend the
stage a sense of class long vanished from other
