Terrolokaust at The Corporation Sheffield 2^nd July 2011

I went to the Corporation in Sheffield to see Straftanz not knowing anything about the support acts.  The first band Surgyn where two very talented young lads and were very entertaining with their unusual and unique sound, after performing there set we eagerly awaited the second act. An unknown band called Terrolokaust, I have never heard them before at all and was unsure what to expect.

Indio made his way on to the stage in a trench coat, his dreads over his head and white face make up with a red stripe across his eyes.  The music started with Indio swaying on his synth rack full of equipment.  Terrolokaust’s intro was nearing an end and the huge dark figure came onto the stage dressed uniformly to Indio, the trench coat and face painted white with the red band covering his eyes.  That look which I come to know as the Terrolokaust uniform.

Indio went into the song a song from their latest album God Loves The Violence, Thirsty and we were treated with Javi’s harmonic but yet brutal vocals.  It was at this point when I must admit I was blown away by Terrolokaust.  Both Javi and Indio played together complimenting each other in a marriage of industrial brutality.

As they played more I was hooked, I listened to the delights of Feeding On The Lies followed by the sheer genius that is Adrenaline.  Then we were treated to the title track to their last album God Loves The Violence which was delivered in what I had come to know as the brutal Terrolokaust sound.  Javi’s vocals reminded me very much of the legendary David Drayman of Disturbed, a fine tuned melody brutally delivered in a perfect way.

Terrolokaust continued to impress all there in the crowd as well as me with No Control followed by NIHILISMO MORAL and Exposed To The Wrath.  They then carried on with Ignoranz, the crowd were enraptured moving in time to the beats.  For a band that were new to so many of us I had never seen a crowd so caught up in the music.  Javi’s stage presence was amazing, perfect for the music and so was their look too.

As the gig went further we were given the song The Pain Of Knowing to which I was amazed, an industrial song of pain delivered perfect.  And then the song which said fuck off to that which destroys, Your Fucking Drugs.  The gig ended on one of my favourite of all the Terrolokaust songs Just One Fix.

I must admit I had never heard of Terrolokaust and I’m glad I was at the gig.  I can see these guys being big worldwide as they are completely amazing.  This is one of the best gigs I have been to in a very long time.  I recommend to anyone to give these guys time with your ears, if you are a fan of industrial you will be a fan of Terrolokaust.

After the performance I saw Javi at the merchandise stand and had to go see him to try get an interview with this amazing band for Grave Concerns.  The man with the huge stage presence I found to be a very polite nice man.  I got talking to Javi and he agreed whole heartedly to an interview.  I have since then been in contact with Javi quite a lot to arrange this interview.  He is such an amazing down to earth man who cares about his music and also his fans.  Javi is a breath of fresh air and it is so nice to speak to someone like him.  Look out for the up and coming interview with Terrolokaust it’s going to be a good one.
