If you did not get a chance to see Megadeth’s Tour of Duty, then you’re missing out big time. Megadeth put on an intense, high-energy show which simply fucking rocked. Several reasons contribute to this. First, Megadeth played songs they have not played since the early 90’s, such as Take No Prisoners and Ashes In Your Mouth. Second, they did not play too many songs off their new album which is a good thing since it just simply is not as good as the old stuff. A really great point is that they did not play a single song of their Album, Risk, (whew) which was their “pop” album and worst album to date.

Dave Mustaine had a good night, his voice was dead on every time, he was in good spirits, and professional. Bass player James LoMenzo, former member of Black Label Society had a good performance as well and it is obvious he suits Megadeth much more than previous bass player James MacDonough. LoMenzo’s style of playing, stage presence, and image fits Megadeth seamlessly. The Drover brothers were good as always, you can tell they are starting to really “break in” and can no longer be viewed as just the replacements of former members.

There is one downside to this particular show, and it is that they did not play a single song off their first album-- Killing is My Business. But I guess I can live with that.

This was by far the best Megadeth show I have ever been to and possibly the best show I ever seen period. This is probably because Megadeth played in an intimate environment, a rather small venue compared to their typical large venue setting. The energy was just simply there for both the band and the fans. I was really surprised that Megadeth played Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel, located in Providence because of the size, but it worked out well for the fans big time. I was even able to squeeze to the front, on the edge of the mosh pit, and yes I almost got killed, but it was worth every minute.

Here is the Set list for the show they played, it is mostly in order:

Sleepwalker

Take No Prisoners

Wake Up Dead

Skin Of My Teeth

Gears Of War

She Wolf

In My Darkest Hour

Hangar 18

Washington Is Next

Kick The Chair

A Tout Le Monde

Tornado of Souls

Reckoning Day

Peace Sells

Ashes in Your Mouth

Symphony Of Destruction

Holy Wars
