Artist: Celeste Noir CD Title: ShadowLand Label: Self- Release Reviewer: Donovon Tate Date: 10/17/04 |
Celeste Noir is consists of Frank, Markus, and Carsten. They are a new band based out of Germany started back in 2001. They combined 80's sound with the millenium sound. Celeste Noir is known to be the modern Depeche Mode with a dark twist. A mix of synth-pop and horror. The band wanted to escape the shadow of Depeche Mode sound, so they came up with their own style called HORROR-POP. The trio's second debut "Shadowland" is a well indeed self superb produced cd that's filled nothing but club dance floor hits and slow and mid-tempo melodies. if Todd Durrant owner of A Different Drum Records, that's based out of Smithfield, Utah, heard them, he may wanna signed them right away. Celeste Noir is unlike any other synth-pop bands. Like Depeche Mode, they have unique songwriting skills, even some emotional lyrics with a sense of humour. They may have their own style, but still you can hear some of Depeche Mode influences. "Shadowland" disc spent many many many many days, weeks and months in my cd players (stereo, boombox and portable). I even went walking sometimes listening to it. Songs of possessed by darkness, love, confrontation, revenge, having a positive attitude, never forget your promises and other touching subjects defines this extraordinary release. A brilliant electronic -pop dark album that will impressed the synth-pop and gothic masses. A must have for both genres!!!!
